Our Review

Scent: Lovely! Just cant pin point it. Kid approved that's for sure
Color: Purple
Consistency/Texture: Kind of Thick
Cost: Under $5.00

Well i must begin by saying that we have tried DOZENS of products so you will see endless reviews from us! This was the first ever Ethnic Shampoo that we ever purchased for Diva R, when i say Ethnic i mean that this product was intended for people of African American/Black American ethnicity's to use and there wasn't "just" a picture of an ethnic child on it that enticed me to buy it thinking that it was made for my baby because the baby on the bottle looked like mine. (This is a misconception that needs to be rehashed time and time again because alot of us have fell victim to that, myself included. Products aren't race coded, society tries to identify with certain types of people but no product works race specifically.) This happened when Diva R was a baby and i seen the Shea Butter  Huggies line, which is also why i bought it.

Moving on from that and on to our review... This was purchased in late 2010 from a local beauty supply store. I bought this because of the Shea Butter and Olive Oil ingredients that i heard so much about. This being a children's shampoo and smelling as good as it did i said what the hay :) I must say one of the first things i noticed was how the one little girl on the front looked like a baby version of Ashanti the singer...

The scent is very good smelling and true to its kid approval claim, because Diva R loved the smell of this shamp :) I must say that i liked the thickness at first it seemed to lather very well.  It sort of looks like there are sparkles in the bottle from a distance but its just how the formula is mixed and its not granulated but looks like it is, if that makes any sense.  I used this on Diva R's hair every other day and followed it up by what ever conditioner we had on hand (EEEK) This was a product from back in the day before i knew anything obviously... This is a huge and popular product line so i figured this would be a good buy.

Even though i loved the smell of it, i must say as far as a conditioning shampoo is concerned it FAILED miserably on Diva R's hair type, this is a HEAVY shampoo. Not only that but in its attempt to leave her hair "squeeky clean" it sure left her hair dry and stripped :( I can honestly say that after i shampooed her hair with this shampoo her hair felt dry and un shampooed, requiring much more care afterwards than she would have needed without using this shamp in particular. I don't know if its the thickness that is bad for her hair or all of the bad ingredients that are in this product?? Probably both because this Kids Organic's shamp is LOADED with bad ingredients over 3/4 the ingredients in this bottle are BAD!

At the time of use, this was an ok shamp, because to someone who knows nothing about specific ingredients, hair types, nourishing requirements, goodies and baddies this would suffice. BUT I'm here to shine the light on this as being a NO NO product. I can safely say that i would not ever buy this again, nor recommend it for many reasons but most importantly because of all of its harmful ingredients... Like most of the Kids Organic's line, for some reason the need for the makers to load the products with parabens, cones, formaldehyde preservatives, chemicals and fillers is very high... Making the risk for its consumers exposure to health problems increase dramatically with use.

I hope this helps someone to avoid this bad product and ones a like :) The last thing you want to do is shop cheap when it comes to natural hair care, nor do you want to cut corners, or throw the towel in by relaxing your/your children's hair. Products like the one reviewed here have a role in why people choose to use relaxers :/

Say no to hazardous elements!

Love your honesty and your insight. So glad you post reviews like this to help others. That Ingredients list is horrible, so sad that companies make products like this to use on our children.
