Our Review

Color: Greyish white

Scent: Like a tainted gel

Texture/Consistency: Like a runny tub cream

Cost: Under $5.00

I had purchased this from Sally Beauty Supply nearly a year ago in hopes of finding something better than the Jam gel and the Twist N locks gel that i had on hand. I was in search for something not sticky and something more natural and of course i had no knowledge of anything really at this point in reference to the bads out weighing the goods. So after scouring the whole isle i decided to get this one. It was sealed around the lid so i couldnt open it to check it out. I used my beauty club card to get a little discount *_*

So i had first began trying this when twisting and braiding/cornrowing Diva R's hair. I used this as a gel/twisting pudding after i applied her shamp conditioner and at the time detangling/conditioning spray.  I would just scoop some out as i went. I will say that the color seemed normal, the scent was kind of weird but not morbid, and the texture i was really un sure/un easy about. BUT since i bought it i decided to try it out for a while. I used this on her wet, damp and dry hair and found that the hold of it worked best on her dry and damp hair. This was really a waste on her wet hair because it wouldn't preform well when her hair was wet it was real slimy on her wet hair.

I think i liked it best on her dry hair because it would actually help hold her hair in the style as i styled it and it performed best then.  My goal was to find a product that wasn't sticky nor a solid gel like as those are yucky on Diva R's hair. This was REALLY runny and that's what i was kind of disappointed by when i opened this i almost knew off first glance that it would be a waste. It is the kind of consistency that if you drop it its a goner for sure.  I used this for months so that i could really determine if i liked it or not. I used it second hand to Lets Jam.  The true lour to this product was the coconut milk and water. I hadn't really ventured into the coconut bandwagon until this point. It had the right light type of consistency to it for Diva R's hair texture and type but it was just yucky and left a sticky residue, i don't agree with its non sticky claim at all because it was yucky sticky there after and it left a residue around beads, rubberbands and ponies. I also done believe this is kid friendly at all. I have recently found alot of reviews on this product on various hair textures and they are 50/50.

Me personally, i do not like this product and since i have become a guru i have found another reason why i do not like this product at all and that is simply because it is LOADED with bad harmful chemicals... More bad then good and this is a no no for us on that fact alone. During the coarse of me learning i also discovered Diva R's allergy to coconut so that would explain her sneezing consistently when i used it and puffy eyes :/ Which i had attributed to her environmental allergies at the time.  So this one got thrown right in the trash and it will never be re shelved in our house again. Along with all of the other Organic Root Stimulator products they are ALL TERRIBLE not just in my opinion but ingredient wise...

Thanks for this, it validated the fact that I was not crazy when I would tell people I saw buildup around Des' ponies on the two occasions I used this. The sticky tacky feel on her hair was something I disliked so much it made me quickly stop using it.

Yes it is sticky, visibly sticky and smells yucky to us atleast. Its funny how many people swear by this and LOVE it... I have never tried mixing it to change it up a bit but all in all its more of a bad product than good with all of its ingredients so not worth it to me... I am usually one of the few who feels that way so i am glad to see that im not crazy as well! :) I still to this day cannot find a good gel... :( I can literally smell the formadehyde in this one YUCK...
