Angled Pig Tails With Three Strand Twists

Here is yet another experimental style which is quick to the point and easily changeable into a nice up-do style.  As you can see i simply parted her hair at an angle creating the "angled" aspect of the pig tail style i had in mind.  Then i pony tailed the pig tails off with some heart ballies...

I was bound and determined to try some three strand twists versus the normal braids or finger curls. I already knew that nothing under the sun would allow these to stay without some type of manipulation or intervention.  My immediate thought was to put a rubber band mid way through the twist and hold enough tension throughout so that they would hopefully stay twisted.

As you can see the twists stayed in place to the best of their ability which was better than usual.  It was really hard to keep any tension because even though the twists were tighter in nature they immediately tried to unravel beyond the rubber band in the middle and at the end.  BUT through all that i was still happy that the three strand twists LOOKED like they were supposed to even though they were fuller in nature than what someone may usually see on coarser type hair.

This side of her pig tails was really being stubborn, which this illustrates the big differences between the left and right side of her curls.  This side was "resisting" the three strand twist, but still stayed as pictured until i styled it.

So i decided that i would rather have these styled into some type of neat up-do for some variance.  I didn't do anything fancy per say i just simply gathered both twists and crossed them over each other like an X and twisted the "tails" of the twists together and clipped her Toodee bow right in the center.

This style took all of 20 minutes to do and it stayed in place all day achieving many compliments and with no pre-planned up-do in mind i thought this turned out rather cute!!!!

Simple quick cute and girly! <3 IT

Three Strand Twist Up-Do With Ponytail Style

Three Strand Twist Up-Do Style With a Pony Tail

The name pretty much sums it up, i was going for something new cute and girly. I had also started making bows from time to time and was quite proud of my first complex bow as i liked to call it.  I decided that i would begin with coating her hair generously with distilled water since it was dry prior to styling.

Then i parted a side part from her forehead back until i reached the point behind her ear then i parted a straight line across the top of her head until i reached the same spot on the opposite side of her head behind her ear.

I spritzed a little bit of our Juicy Spritz throughout her hair and then applied some Bee Mine Luscious Balanced Cream Moisturizer to each formed section individually to help slick her hair smoothly into the rubber bands and seal in the moisture already applied.  I rubber banded the top sections i created and smoothed out the back section with a tad more Luscious Cream and then i constructed three strand twists from each of the two sections formed which i put into a pony tail with the back section.

When the pony tail was complete i spritzed a little more distilled water on her curls hanging from the pony tail to liven them up and so i could finger separate her curls for more bounce and volume. (The bow pictured i created and now Diva R LOVES when i make her bows <3)

The twists stayed very well in place and didn't unravel as they normally would being freely hanging this was a simple and quick style which is suitable for girls of all ages and easy enough for beginners to grasp with no prior knowledge.

I left her baby hairs just laying down in their normal fashion of choice that day which really complimented her style and all in all this style was complete in 15 minutes. Added the bow and was finished. Another great aspect is that this style lasted for a few days with minimal frizz and by simply changing the bow to match her daily outfit, I dressed up the style making it look new :)

I am a sucker for side parts and pony tails. Trying new things is something that we make an active element in our household as this consistently expands our horizons and helps to keep optimistic tones as well.

Freestyle Pony Tail and Sidewinder Hair Style WithTwist Out

This style was one that i did on a whim as we had the Natural History Museum field trip with Diva R's class. My idea was to create a unique free style style which included a twist out and some Sidewinders, Lately the twist outs have been getting much better each time we do them so i decided to do a half twist out on the back 3/4th's of her hair and make a row of box pony tails going across the front. I used Shea Moisture products which i will be providing a review on shortly.

I had pony tailed the back section that i was planning on doing the twist out on and i parted out the 5 front box parts from the hair that was not pulled back into the pony tail, which i planned on rubber banding over night as loose hanging pony tails and then in the morning creating some kind of different style with some Sidewinders that kept her hair out of her face. I just let my hands go and created this interlocking braided pony tail head band hair style. The finished product reminds me of piggy back braids with a twist. I used clear and princess pink 2 inch Sidewinders and these seem to be our favorite size along side the 3 inch Sidewinders...

The three strand twists were done on her wet hair as i left them in over night to dry and form then i unraveled the twists in the morning and these pictures show the results :) I used the SM Hair Milk and SM Moisture Mist.  I had to rubber band off all of the twists for overnight protection because if i wouldn't have they wouldn't have stayed in place for more than 5 seconds. Throughout the night the twists stayed in place pretty much and didn't really frizz at all, she put on her satin bonnett after her twists air dryed a bit.

I made sure i didn't add any extra moisture or products the morning i took them out because doing so is a recipe for disaster and can ruin any hopes for a good twist out. So of course when i took the twists out they were completely dry and there were about 15 twists in total. This is when i put the Sidewinders in.

This was over all a decent twist out, the pictures never seem to do justice. This style lasted all day through her field trip and beyond, she got compliments on her hair all day.

This style took about 35 minutes total

These Sidewinders are part of an everlasting craze and if you haven't heard about these and you do not own any as of yet please stop by and check out Sidewinder Hair Holder's Online store, you get at least one free set with every order over $19.96 The more you order the more free sets you get :) Cant beat that!

On another note, Natural History Museums are truly amazing! I recommend that everyone go and spend a day at a local Natural History Museum and check out everything it is a fun and educating experience for all ages. The Planetarium is a must see!

Three Strand Twist Out

To attempt another twist out or not? Was the question i asked myself, i asked myself this question because the twist outs of the past were epic fails. Ive tried two strand twist outs previously so i figured if i gave it a whirl again i would opt out of the two strand twists which i know do not work on Diva R's hair.  I gave in and decided that i would try a three strand twist out.

I simply spritzed her hair (which was washed and conditioned the day before) with our trusty distilled water generously, applied our Bee Mine Bee Hold Curly Butter to each section as i went and began grabbing random medium sized sections (not worrying about perfect parting) one at a time. As i grabbed each section i split it in three even parts and twisted the three strands around each other left most over right most until i reached the ends. (If your not careful you will begin braiding, as the hand/finger technique resembles braiding very closely.) I did this until her whole head was done. I didn't take pictures of the actual twists but as you can imagine they looked like a twisted lolly pop...

I secured each twist with rubber bands because twists as well as braids and any other types of style do not stay unless they are secured in Diva R's hair.

Here are the results from this three strand twist out which stayed in over night and were taken down the following morning.

As you can see some parts look better and more defined than others and ultimately her natural curls fought through the twist out so you can see lots of her natural curls peeking throughout as well.  I am over all pleased with the three strand twist out results, as this is the better resulting style that we have ever achieved doing twist outs.  Three strand twists stay better in Diva Rs hair but even after i freshly do them they want to unravel even with rubber bands securing them.

I attribute her curls stubbornness to the fact that they are FIGHTERS and nothing will mess with their shape LOL They scream "Over MY CURLY BODY" to some of the styles and ideas I've tried... So with this being known i will continue to experiment with the different types of twists and see if we can find something to work consistently for us because i LOVE the 3 dimensional look of twists.
I also learned throughout this trial that throughout her whole head her curls turn and curve in many different ways and have different shapes so this may be why some parts look "normal" even though they were twisted just the same as the others.

This twist out style took about 20 minutes to do and it lasted a whole day. Not bad for a curly head which styles only last a matter of hours in generally on upwards of a few days max. I must say all of the twist styles Ive done on coarser and thicker hair types have turned our marvelous and lasted weeks on end! If you have coarse hair chances are you will have amazing twist outs!!!

Anyone have tips for fine/thin haired children when it comes to doing all types of twists?

God Bless.

Three Strand Twist's/Half Cornrow's With Heart Beads

This is a Curlee switch up from the previous style i shared that lasted 8 days. I decided to change up the three sectioned pony tails that i had on the top half of Diva R's hair. Instead of the finger curls that she wore previously. I did three strand twists , twisting the 3 strand together going to the left because i found that one thing i was having trouble with was that i wasn't thinking about twisting with her curl pattern i was just twisting in what ever direction came to mind and that is what contributed to the twists unraveling very quickly. YAY i love learning new things!

No matter how tight i do the twists or how loose i do them they always end up unwinding slightly looking puffy yet cute :)

As you can see the beads were turned into black and white heart beads as mentioned in the last post  :)

Below is a close up of one of her 3 strand twists and i am beyond surprised how long they lasted! NO twist has ever stayed in Diva R's hair longer than an hour. these lasted for several hours! YAY its a start.

I used the Bee Mine Curly Butter to create the twists and finger twirl the ends.

Below is another side view of her twists :)

I am definitely happy with the results and will try these more often in different ways in the future. Twists have always been easy for me to do but they just never stay in fine hair.

Today's Curlee Style: 4 Pigtails w/Braids and 3 Strand Twists

Sooo we have been quite busy lately with activities, kiddies getting sick and many other last minute things so we haven't had much time to do hair lately.  This style is from a week ago and I figured since we haven't done pig tails in a while why not do 4 of them! Her hair was freshly washed and conditioned with Bee Mine Botanical Wash and Bee Mine Avocado Conditioner.

I sectioned it into four even parts rubber banded then pony-d them each, i spritzed a light coat of the Bee Mine Juicy Spritz on her scalp, then applied some Bee Mine Luscious Balanced Cream Moisturizer to her mids and ends following with some Bee Mine Curly Butter and used a small toothed comb to gently blend the moisturizer and sealer down into her pony tailed hair. I decided that i wanted two different things going on so i did one single looser type braid from each pony tail and ending them in gold colored bow clips to match. I also three strand twisted the remaining loose hair hanging from each pony tail and ended those in ballies to add weight to keep them from unraveling like they always do!

Here is a close up of the three strand twist.

I had to re twist the twists with some added luscious moisture cream to keep the form and we were ready to walk out the door all in a matter of 20 minutes.

Simple, quick and cute :)

BUSY Combination Style, 2 & 3 Strand Twists, Pony Tails, Braids and More

Its been a while since we have done a busy style with ballies so we decided to bring it back :) The first set of pictures are of her Busy style that we created for pajama day at school she chose to wear her Princess and the Frog Jammie's so i got creative and wanted to incorporate alot of bling that matches :)

We washed and conditioned like usual and used the Bee Mine Juicy Spritz to coat her hair and roots prior to rubber banding.

I began parting geometric shapes ranging from diamonds-squares-rectangles-square hearts- an X- and a star in her hair and rubber banded them all individually (very light handedly and loosely so her hair doesn't get damaged) adding ballies and little ponies to the bases followed by applying generous amounts of Bee Mine Dejas Hair Milk in Island Mango ( making sure to heavily coat the base of the bands and ends of her hair where bands and such will be)then i let that saturate for 10 minutes and smoothed some Bee Mine Curly Butter on the mid parts of her hair that i will be braiding/twisting.

I then braided some of the parts, two strand twisted some, and three strand twisted others and incorporated a few sister twists for a BUSY different type of style. I ended the braids and twists with purple and green bow/animal clips(from our local beauty supply), purple and green BGP stars in pastel colors that we got from Curly Princess Hair Boutique (these are a must have for EVERYONE'S collection) we love the bigger sized beads and where we live NO ONE sells them. When the style was complete i spritzed one more layer of the Juicy Spritz and topped it off with a super light coat of Olive Oil Sheen.

We did this style for her pre-school pajama day and Diva R is most proud of this busy style :) Her little girlfriends come up and hug her and always compliment her hair its so rewarding! It took about an hour and a half with breaks.

This set of pictures is our "revamping" of her Busy style to freshen up the tightness and change the colors to match other outfits :) We also merged some of the sections to form new ones.

*Shoplight Alert* Fatemeh's Jewelery and Accessories

We have been on an everlasting quest for some flowers for Diva R's hair that aren't too big. Nearly every flower we come across is just huge, huge and hideous, or real heavy and huge.  Diva R doesn't have a whole lot of hair so putting a HUGE flower in her hair makes her head look proportioned with the flower and it is not the best look for her.  We had won the runner up spot in the Bee Mine Valentines Day Contest and received a Bee Mine gift certificate to Bee Mine Products as well as a gift certificate to Fatemeh's Jewelry and Accessories.  I have shopped many times at Etsy.com so i knew that this was a blessing :)

Fatemeh's sells handmade hair flowers, broaches, and jewelry. We chose the Lavender Crochet Hair Flower which is about 4 inches wide give or take.  It is 100% Acrylic Yarn and is machine washable! At first i was skeptical on getting something crocheted for Diva R's hair out of thinking it could get ruined by hair products or rough housing. BUT i am so glad we found Fatemeh's because this crochet flower is just amazing and it is not going to be torn up any time soon! The construction is of great quality and the flower is so light weight and can lay in any type of hair style!

Since it is not thick and bulky like most flowers it doesn't look like a rock sticking off her head! It lays just perfect and i can fold up the petals if id like and give the flower some 3D pop. This is definitely a great buy and these are only $5.00 each and if you buy more the shipping is a steal of a deal :) You can customize these also and have layers of different colors if you choose or you can have solid colored ones of different colors :) Check her shop out :) It got here within days of ordering it and her hospitality and kindness just glows, KUDOS to Fatemeh's Jewelry and Accessories.

I had also chosen the Black Chip earrings from her shop and i just LOVE them, i definitely recommend her shop to anyone looking for handmade beads, crochet flowers or hand made jewelry :) We are placing another order asap!

Do you have any favored shops that sell hand made hair pretties??
