Cornrows, Criss Crossed Ponies and Sidewinder's

So lately i have figured i may start posting some hair-spiration with not much wording included... So in the near future you may see some of that... But for now here is a brief posting on a style that i had recently done. This one i had freestyled from the basis of wanting to use some of our Sidewinders, and from there i just created. It seriously has been too long since ive done cornrows and i find since I'm so slow handed at them, that they take longer than doing any other type of style... I really wish i could find a local person who could help me perfect my technique without having to pay for a class since i know everything there is to know besides a better hand technique (in my opinion).

This style began with pig tails and i moved back as i went... I parted the middle section first and clipped them off individually. Then i moved left to right in each box (cornrow, box braid, box braid, cornrow) Then i finished them off with 2 inch Sidewinders. Then i moved on to the bottom row where i split the section straight down the middle and created some lower pig tails to coinside with the top frontal ones. I rubber banded those off with the top two middle box braids forming an X into them and braided the remaining free hair into two single braids and finally some Sidewinders.

I had decided to leave the frontal hair free from the pig tails for some variation.

I used Distilled water in our spritz bottle followed by Blended Beauty Soft Curls Moisturizer for a moderate moisturizer throughout as i planned on leaving this style in for a few days, and Kinky Curly Knot Today for hold as needed.

On the third day i touched her style up with a few alterations... I decided to braid the free hair into two big braids from each pig tail adding individual Sidewinders part way up the braids. I also parted off two front sections and cornrowed them, adding Sidewinders at each end.

I pretty much left the rest as previously styled but i just re-did the (then fuzzy) cornrows and box braids

I try to use the same color scheme for a few days when using accessories so i dont have to manipulate much...

This style took about 40 minutes in total to do and lasted about 5 days with minimal touching up/frizz.

Happy Styling :)

Valentine's Heart Hairstyle For Girls Version 2

Heart Heaven is where we have been lately :) I've been surfing the net and concocting some ideas for some Valentines hair styles and i decided on doing heart themed styles for the rest of this month and then i will be on to some St. Patty's Day styles...

I had promised that i would post the re-vamped version of my most recent heart hairstyle and without further a due here it is!

So as you can see the style nearly stayed the same with a few tweaks and additions. I figured that i would add two additional pony tails instead of the one side pony tail now totalling 3 pony tails. I also re-did the 2 strand rope twists stemming from the heart and i added more rope twists to the other two pony tails totalling 6 rope twists.

We were itching to use some of our Sidewinders and we chose the brown and pink 3 inch Hair Holders to adorn the rope twists with. I picked out a cute matching outfit and a misted a few spritz's of Shea Moisture Mist and we were revamped into a whole new style just that fast.

All in all this transformation style took 15 minutes and i plan on it lasting a few more days :)

The Diva really loved her festive style and the Sidewinders are one of her staple accessories as it is so she was really in Diva mode. I am beginning to fall in LOVE with these rope twists they have seriously been working for us and lasting as long as needed as well. They haven't lasted through the night though but lasting all day is a plus in our book for sure because twists have never been long lasting or even possible in her hair until now and still only rope twists are working.

Here is an idea of what her rope twists look like after i unraveled them. Her hair seriously looks "loc'd" up. I like the cute fun spiral looking loc imitators :) Too bad i cant further unravel them without them losing their spiral look.

This is a simple to follow style and most of the styles i create are created in random freestyle way anyways, i usually create as i go with no format which would make tutorials hours long and some what needless. * If you always start with your focal point of the style and work around it you will achieve the same style or create your own version like i did, having the heart as my focal point i just simply created around it.*

God Bless and Happy Pre-Valentine's Day <3

Christmas Day Hairstyle

We started our blessed day of Christmas by opening gifts then having breakfast and going to church, followed by three family dinners and then quality family time at home. Needless to say we were on the go from sun up to sun down and we always dress up for Christmas and go all out in Jesus name as Christmas is really in honor of his joyous birth. This is why we celebrate Christmas and THIS YEAR was extra special because Jesus Birthday fell on a Sunday and our church had its service in his special honor and it was nothing short of a breath taking experience to be in the house of the Lord on his special day!

We woke up and sung Happy Birthday to Jesus and proceeded on with our day. We got ready for church and off we went so the switch up style that i did on Diva R's pony tail and cornrow style with finger curls was one that was simple and quick. I had to throw in our new red Sidewinders alongside our white and clear for the candy cane color representation to add a splash to her whole ensemble. These were the 2 inch size hair holders and i secured them each on with a small pony bead rubber banded at the ends.

Notice the amazing Christmas Bow that my sweetheart is wearing? It matches her dress to a T and was perfectly big for the occasion and not to mention its was a blessing from my friend Mommy A for my Diva specifically. (For your chance to win a bow of this quality stay tuned for our New Years Giveaway Bash to be 1 of 3 winners of your choice in bow!!!) This was the perfect topper to her whole outfit <3 In the above picture we were in church waiting for the service to begin.

Here is a side profile...

I just simply braided the what were previously finger curls into regular braids which i ended with Sidewinders and the cornrows were left as is and just ended with Sidewinders. Total i used 20 hair holders and 20 rubber bands and this switch up took about 20 minutes.

Her hair is growing before my eyes! I am so proud of our amazing journey!

Pony Tail Veil With Double Flip Braids and Sidewinder's

I love to experiment and when i am fresh out of pre-planned ideas i feel this is the best time to break out a new experiment. The only pre-planned element of this style were the Sidewinders and hair bow. I call this a Pony Tail Veil With Double Flip Braids and Sidewinder's, the long name thoroughly covers all aspects of this busy yet cute style.

I gathered some of our random products alongside the rat tail comb, Tangle Teezer, rubber bands, six 2 inch Sidewinders in white and clear, a new and amazingly cute reindeer bow that my friend Mommy A made for my sweet Diva <3 and a brown elastic pony tail which blended in with her hair color well.

I began by sectioning off the frontal section with the rat tail comb which i then parted out 6 boxes and rubber banded them off individually then i added the Sidewinders via our 8 inch beader and began smoothing the free hair along side the remainder hair with the SW's into a snug pony tail.

Then i separated the pony tailed hair in two even sections creating a left and a right section. Then i braided each section into regular 3 strand braids, forming two hanging braids. Next, i simply "flipped" each braid upwards wrapping them around the pony tail once and then i grabbed the elastic band and secured the two loose ends around the top of the pony tail. This created super simple yet complicated looking double flipped braids.

I adorned the top front part of the pony tail style with the reindeer bow so that the loose ends were hidden and it was complete! I spritzed the finishing light moisturizer of our choice and in about 25 minutes we were finished and ready for school.

In case you need clarification, by looking at this above picture the leftmost braid is flipping over the rightmost and then wrapped once around the pony tail and secured on the top along side the right most braid which was wrapped around the opposite way.

Simple quick cute and girly <3

Symmetrical Parted Pony Tail Style

This is one of those styles that doesn't need much explanation. I just simply gathered our usual products alongside our rat tail comb and desired accessories and began symmetrically parting which meant that the parts were going to be the same on both sides of her head.

I decided that we would "bling" this style out and add some Sidewinders, ballies, pony tails and beads for security of the Sidewinders.

I used 3 inch Sidewinders in pink and black and incorporated small pony beads to secure the SW in place with a rubber band holding them all in together.

This is what i would call a busy style and in about 40 minutes this style was complete. Parting usually takes the longest of all elements involved in styling as i have this obsession with parting as perfect as i can especially when styling my daughters hair like this.

Freestyle Pony Tail and Sidewinder Hair Style WithTwist Out

This style was one that i did on a whim as we had the Natural History Museum field trip with Diva R's class. My idea was to create a unique free style style which included a twist out and some Sidewinders, Lately the twist outs have been getting much better each time we do them so i decided to do a half twist out on the back 3/4th's of her hair and make a row of box pony tails going across the front. I used Shea Moisture products which i will be providing a review on shortly.

I had pony tailed the back section that i was planning on doing the twist out on and i parted out the 5 front box parts from the hair that was not pulled back into the pony tail, which i planned on rubber banding over night as loose hanging pony tails and then in the morning creating some kind of different style with some Sidewinders that kept her hair out of her face. I just let my hands go and created this interlocking braided pony tail head band hair style. The finished product reminds me of piggy back braids with a twist. I used clear and princess pink 2 inch Sidewinders and these seem to be our favorite size along side the 3 inch Sidewinders...

The three strand twists were done on her wet hair as i left them in over night to dry and form then i unraveled the twists in the morning and these pictures show the results :) I used the SM Hair Milk and SM Moisture Mist. I had to rubber band off all of the twists for overnight protection because if i wouldn't have they wouldn't have stayed in place for more than 5 seconds. Throughout the night the twists stayed in place pretty much and didn't really frizz at all, she put on her satin bonnett after her twists air dryed a bit.

I made sure i didn't add any extra moisture or products the morning i took them out because doing so is a recipe for disaster and can ruin any hopes for a good twist out. So of course when i took the twists out they were completely dry and there were about 15 twists in total. This is when i put the Sidewinders in.

This was over all a decent twist out, the pictures never seem to do justice. This style lasted all day through her field trip and beyond, she got compliments on her hair all day.

This style took about 35 minutes total

These Sidewinders are part of an everlasting craze and if you haven't heard about these and you do not own any as of yet please stop by and check out Sidewinder Hair Holder's Online store, you get at least one free set with every order over $19.96 The more you order the more free sets you get :) Cant beat that!

On another note, Natural History Museums are truly amazing! I recommend that everyone go and spend a day at a local Natural History Museum and check out everything it is a fun and educating experience for all ages. The Planetarium is a must see!

Back To School Hair Style Day 1

School has begun so i will be showcasing Diva R's first 6 days of school styles one by one. For her first day of school i wanted to do something girly, simple, cute and designed. I always let her pick out her school outfit and she takes great pride in this, my only requirement is that is has to be one of two that i show her and the whole outfit has to match :) She chose one of her new Pink Akademik's outfits. So with this i just free styled a style the night before and here is how it turned out...

I shampooed and conditioned her hair with our trusty Bee Mine Botanical Shampoo and Bee Mine Deep Conditioner. Then i spritzed our lovely distilled water lightly over her hair squeezing it in by hand. I then put some Bee Mine Curly Butter on her mids through ends and finger combed it in. My first part was from just above the ear across her head ending right above her other ear creating a top and bottom half. I began on the bottom half and as i went i dabbed a bit of Curly Butter on each section as i cornrowed and just let my hands create. I ended up with an x shape in the middle and a few regular cornrows.

Then i adorned the ends with each a three inch and two inch Sidewinders mixed together for a new and fun look! Ive yet to see this done anywhere yet ^_^ I LOVE the different look of the combined Sidewinders! I then split the top section of hair in two even parts straight down the middle and clipped the right section off so then i could part out a tapered section from the back of her head to the front and create a forward facing cornrow. I did this on each side and adorned those with coordinating Sidewinders <3

With the remaining hair on each side i created piggy tails and finger curled her loose hair into two separate sections on each side.

I put most of her baby hairs into the piggy tails and slicked them into them the best i could using some Curly Butter. I combed the little remaining hairs downward and they fell right into place. Finally i topped it off with our Juicy Spritz and off to school she went.

I wonder if the Diva will ever grow out of her baby hairs? Hmm

This style took about an hour and 15 minutes tops.

Diva R is still in LOVE with PINK, so this will probably be a staple color in our regime for a while.

Half Cornrows and Pig Tails with Sidewinders

I LOVE the fall season! I seem to be overly inspired and just on the go with not a fret in place. Needless to say the fall season seems to be the most busy and active for us! We are lovers of the weather being in the 70's. I am big on keeping Diva R's hair nice and styled or neatly kept while we are out especially as i have found this makes a huge impact on her and others. I think we are in a huge natural hair care awareness revolution! It seems lately we have been the center of attention, questions, oogling, inquiries and more with the styles I've been doing on her or her curl health in general :)

This tells me the word is getting spread! Which motivates me beyond expression. Its great that people are in search of and finding successfully information on how to properly care for their hair!

So inspired by all of this i decided to alter a few previous styles I've done and create this one using some new Sidewinder's we received.

I LOVE combination styles and ones that have such a cute look and more than one thing going on. I decided to do a half cornrow and half pig tail style. These styles prove to be quicker and easier than most for us. I simply parted an even part from above her left ear to above her right ear going across which ended up being perfectly divided having a top section and a bottom section.

I applied our distilled water spritz evenly through her hair so that it was drizzled with natures purest moisture. Then i smoothed some Bee Mine Bee Hold Curly Butter on the bottom section from root to tips. I began with cornrowing the bottom section going downwards. I used my trusty rat tail comb and parted rows as i went and ended them in our cherished 2 inch Sidewinder's in white, clear, grape and princess pink.

I chose matching color small pony beads to secure the Sidewinders in place and then wrapped a rubber band upwards a few times on each. I LOVE how the Sidewinders sit so lightly and with such cute and uniquely looking design they surely grab attention every tie she wears them.

Then i split the top section of her hair right down the middle creating two sections for me to pig tail with our color coordinating pony tails. I made sure i generously applied the Curly Butter through each section and used our Tangle Teezer to help mold her hair gently into place. When her hair was pig tailed i finger curled the remaining hair on each side and the Curly Butter i put on already really helps to make the curls hold and pop into their bouncy place.

Then 3 spray's later of our Bee Mine Juicy Spritz we were finished. This style took about 45 minutes from beginning to end. This is the type of style that you can switch up amongst a hand full of consecutive days creating a new style easily each day. We have grown to be addicted to these amazing Sidewinders and there isn't a look that cannot incorporate these lovely accessories!

Freestyle Cornrow's, Pony Tails, Braids, Accessories and PINK!

Ever have one of those days where any creativity you may normally be able to muster up is just NOT THERE nor was it going to appear within the time frame you needed it to? I know i sure have those days from time to time! This happened to be one of those days. So we had a Wedding & Reception to go to and of course Diva R took this opportunity and declared that she was wearing a dress and that in fact she wants to wear a PINK one. So the only idea that came to mind was white and pink accessories with a dab of clear and a heart which would symbolize LOVE. So with these ideas being my base i just freshly washed and conditioned Diva R's hair with our usual fav's being our Bee Mine Botanical Shampoo and our Cocoa Curlz Cutie Pie Conditioner.

I find this is the most efficient and easiest way to prepare her hair for styling as it is at its most manageable state. I then applied our Bee Mine Juicy Spritz and finger combed it in, her hair is nearly tangle free anyways after the bath but this method still being incorporated helps to ensure there are no smaller tangles and it smooths her hair out nicely too.

I grabbed my trusty rat tail comb & Original Moxie Just Gel Concentrate and started tracing the heart at the top of her head. I pony tailed it off and four strand braided the remaining hair from the heart. As i was parting i applied the Moxie Gel to each section from base to ends. I moved on and just started randomly parting, sectioning off, pony-tailing and cornrowing random sections.

I added regular braids and 4 strand braids to each loose hanging section and ended them in our lovely Sidewinders and some clips to match for some added dimension and for a textured look throughout.

I used the 2 inch Sidewinders in clear and white and secured them on with an ortho band and a small pony bead at each end.

Notice how neat the sections turned out and how well kept all of her normally present baby hairs and new growth are? Thanks to Moxie! Just Gel is nice on her hair esp when cornrowing and braiding, its hold is tightened as it is applied its like i feel it have a texture change which broke my skepticism regarding the runny consistency. It ended up being a very nice hold gel so i use it for the styles i plan to keep in for a length of time.

That is what i came up with by not having any idea and my creativity just not being there all at the same time! This style took me 2 hours and i contribute this to my OCD with creating neat parts!

I topped it off with a light coat of the Juicy and off we went :) Needless to say everyone LOVED her hair! If i would even have just etched solely a heart and left the rest hanging everyone would have probably loved it the same, it seems that when ever i part a shape in her hair its automatic that crowds accrue no matter where we are!!

This is a style i would deem a combination style, it is very busy, cute and versatile!

Combinaton 4-1 Style with Natural Curls, Braids, Sidewinder's, Ponytails, Braid-out, and Cornrows

Quick, Easy and Lovely! Natural hair is incredibly versatile in styling and combination styles can be easily created and easily altered each day creating a different and still equally as cute if not cuter style. I am one for showcasing Diva R's natural curls consistently. She loves wearing her hair down just as much as she does styled. I think my teachings and embracings have paid off already at her tender age of 4!

So my idea was to create a style which kept the top front portion of her hair free from hanging in her face, this is the area where she sweats heavily from and since its SO HUMID here i (for complaints from the Diva's sake) thought of re-creating an oldie but goodie of ours...

I began with the thought being "Hey" its been a while since i have used the Sidewinder's so i had to bring em back out! As these are just amazing and so much easier applying to the hair than beads. I used some of our 2 inch Sidewinder's in my choice of coordinating colors.

Part 1

Before i begin parting i spritzed Diva R's hair moderately with our trusty distilled water in our lovely pink bottle from scalp to tip. I lift her hair up as i spritz to guarantee an adequate coverage throughout. I then misted her hair with our Bee Mine Juicy Spritz acting as our light moisturizer and finger detangled the few knots that she did have while also smoothing the moisturizer into the already in place distilled water for our wonderful moisturizing method.

I chose our Darcy's Botanical's Madagascar Vanilla Styling Cream as our styling/hold product. I applied this to her ends generously and then began parting. Its really a no brainer as to how i did this style BUT i will explain in case someone would desire i do so.

I grabbed my trusty rat tail comb and parted ear to ear (just behind her ears) across the top of her head. Then i just split the top section of her hair in three sections, pony-tailed and singled braided each.

I ended each braid into one of the hair holders and a small pony bead. I opted out of the rubber bands for a little while to see how we like these orthodontic bands in place of them, and secured the bead on so the SW doesn't slide off (helped to provide a light ending weight on the hair holders).

I <3 our Sidewinders, I'd say my favorite size is the 2 inch because of Diva R's thinner type hair i like to usually put a smaller amount of beads on her hair per strand to prevent extra weight hanging off of her hair.

These are still better than beads currently for us and we have used them quite often since i bought her very first set ages ago :)!

This style took all of 20 min tops from start to finish. I topped it off with our Juicy Spritz and we were off.

Now for Part 2

Today's Curlee Style: Mothers Day Style Plus Diva R got a New Accessory!

Today in honor of me i decided to do a Simple and Quick style on Diva R for church this morning. Her hair was Shampooed, Conditioned and Moisturized last night. I did that last night so that i wouldn't have lots to do on top of our already jammed day today as far as hair was concerned. I have had a set of Sidewinder's laying here that i have wanted to use in her hair for a few days now. I mixed up some colors together and decided that today would be the day to use them :)

So here is our Simple and Quick Ponytail with hanging individual braids that are of medium size thickness. Nothing special about this doo, but i love pony tails on Diva R because her little baby hairs help to accentuate the style regardless of how i spice it up making it always adorable :)

Product wise, i used the Mixed Chicks Leave In as her morning conditioner and followed it up with the Bee Mine Juicy Spritz for her moisturizer and for the hold i used Bee Mine Curly Butter as i slicked her hair back and as i braided.

I made sure to use the small pony beads at the end of each braid so that the sidewinders stay on and the ends blend very well with the smaller PB's too.

Pink has been established as her FAV color so we went with the pink theme so that we could use the Princess Pink Sidewinder Hair Holders. Also incorporating the white, clear and black :)

The best thing about this style is that it took 10 minutes tops! and its super cute and girly just like Diva R likes with her BLING *_*

Click here for our past review and posts on the Sidewinders.

Also Diva R had received her new accessory in the mail the other day, this isn't just ANY accessory though.

This is her Medic Alert Bracelet (Sportsband Style). We decided it was time to get the Diva a Medic Alert bracelet because she is in school now and she plays sports so there are times where she isn't right with us and with her allergies and asthma being a huge factor of her life it can be threatening at any moment. Its sad to say but teachers and other misc people don't have the knowledge to act quickly and know exactly what to do if she starts having an attack or allergy. This bracelet is a serious God send and i always thought these were expensive and not possible because insurance WILL NOT cover them, even though these are life saving no insurance will pay for it. So i was at the local library and seen a brochure for a free Medic Alert bracelet, so when i checked into it it was FREE i just had to pay membership for the Kids program and 34.95 including shipping later Diva R got her very own personalized MA bracelet with her choice of Band :) At this point cost wasn't an issue anyways because this was absolutely necessary. I showed her all of the bands and out of all of them she wanted the Soccer Ball one. Of course she got what she wanted *_*

This is incredible and its a must for all children especially with any type of conditions! We will be getting Z one also :)

Hope you enjoyed our Mother's Day Style :)
God Bless.
